Top 5 rising overseas players to get high value in IPL 2018 auction!

The IPL 2018 auction will be held today and tomorrow, in Bangalore. The scouts are in search of hunting talents throughout the domestic tournaments all over the world.

Here are the list of top 5 players, who have shown excellent performances in their respective domestic competitions but are not a big name in IPL history.

Top 5 Overseas players to get high value in IPL 2018 Auction

#5 Alex Carey

Promising wicket keeper batsman Alex Carey is in a dream run in the BBL17-18.

Only Hurricane’s opener D Short has amassed more runs than Carey’s 368 in the KFC BBL this summer, which have come from the top of the order at an average of 61.33 and a strike-rate of 139.92.

Glenn Phillips made his first class debut at the age of 18 before playing in the 2016 U-19 world cup.

#4 G Phillips

The New Zealand batsman was the top-scorer in the domestic Super Smash T20 competition, with 369 runs at an average of 46.12. He made his international debut in a T20 against South Africa in 2017.

If he continues to play in that way, his ability to hit the cricket ball way out of the park can make him the next McCullum.

After the retirement of Ronchi, he is now a regular member of the national T20 side, and the 21-year old can be very useful as he used to play both top and middle order.

Can you imagine an average of 120 in a T20 tournament? That’s what Hendricks has achieved in the last season.

#3 Reeza Hendricks

In November 2017, he scored his first century in a T20 match, when he scored 102* against Dolphins in this season Ram-Slam He was the leading run-scorer during the tournament, finishing with 361 runs in seven innings.

Though he has failed to excel at international level, he can be a very good option in the top of the innings. The right-hand top order batsman who has played U-19 world cup in 2007, has a fine first-class record in both one-day and T20 matches.

#2 J Denly

The Englishman was the top scorer of the last T20-Blast and continues to be in sublime form in Big-Bash too.

The Kent opener has scored 567 runs in seven matches at an average of 43.61 in the last T20-Blast maintaining a strike rate of 150.79.

The hard-hitting 31-year-old Englishman, signed earlier this month with Sixers as a replacement of Jason Roy, cracked an unbeaten 72 against the Melbourne Stars at the SCG on Tuesday, ensuring the Sixers finished their season with four straight wins and their second highest ever score.

His performance in BPL showed his ability to play spin on rank turners, which can help him to get high value in IPL.

#1 D Short

Darcy Short had a great Big Bash 2017-18 so far as he performed consistently for his side Hobart Hurricanes.

Short, who hits the ball hard and bowls reasonable leg-spin, is probably best known for power hitting during early overs.

He is going to make his international debut in the upcoming T20 series against New-Zeland and England.

Whatever happens, Short’s career now only looks bright and a long one. He has spent years in anonymity and now, it is high time for him to use his talent to full potential. It took Short quite a long time to reach where he is today. But, now that he is here, he is making it count every time he takes the field.

The Hurricanes opener has scored 504 runs in nine matches at an average of 63 including scores of 122 not out, 96 and 97.

What will be his value in this IPL 2018 auction? Today’s auction will unfold the answer.
