After the huge success of BAJIRAO MASTANI and RAMLEELA,Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set for his new project PADMAVATI ,that is scheduled to hit the screens on 17th November 2017. This time also he is working with the most desired couple in real and on reel, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
Padmavati is the upcoming new drama, which features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, alongside Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
The film is based on the life of Rani Padmavati a legendary queen mentioned in Padmavat. She was the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, the ruler of Mewar. In 1303, Alauddin Khilji, the Turkish ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, laid siege to the Chittor Fort in Rajputana. According to Padmavat, Khilji led the invasion motivated by his earnest desire to capture Rani Padmini.
Other casts are said to be Jim Sarbh and Sonu Sood.
Many media outlets speculated that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who played the leads in Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015), were finalized to play Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini in the film. Multiple actors were rumored to play the part of Rani Padmini’s husband Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, including Fawad Khan. Later it was informed that Shahid Kapoor was approached for the role. Viewers are excited to see their sweet lovable character Ranveer as a villain in the upcoming biggie.
The songs featured in the film will be composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and sung by none other than Shreya Ghoshal.
She will be singing four songs for the film. Deepika Padukone filmed a Ghoomar performance, a traditional folk dance, on a set that represents the interior beauty of Chittorgarh Fort.Rumors were made that Lata Mangeshkar has sung a Thumri song for the movie, however, Shahid Kapoor stated that no such song has been recorded yet. According to Ghoshal, “The film has some beautiful songs. The fusion of folk and larger than life arrangements and grander treatment is amazing. It is going to be a treat.”
Amidst all these Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was thrashed by a bunch of protestors, allegedly belonging to the Karni Sena, in Jaipur today on the sets of his upcoming film Padmavati. Onlookers said Bhansali was slapped too. The protestors said that they were ‘not happy with the distortion of facts in Padmavati’. The film has ruffled several feathers in various circles, given that it supposedly features a dream sequence with Queen Padmini and Alauddin Khilji together. Nothing of the sort, of course, happened in real life if history is to be believed.
So, it will be interesting to see which way Padmavati’s story turns itself to keep itself away from attracting more of such threats.
Despite all these, the fans are eagerly waiting for the film in anticipation to see their favorite actors together on the screen again.
